Ensuring Opportunities for Success for Every Student

Our Values
Student-centered/Students First
Passionate
Persevering
Authentic
Knowledgeable

Linda Fontanilla
President, 2017-2018

Dear Colleagues:

In July 2017, the Chief Student Services Officers at the 114 California Community Colleges voted to change our non-profit organization name’s from the “California Community College Chief Student Services Administrators Association” (CCCCSSAA) to “Chief Student Services Officers” (CSSO) Association. We hope that this name change will further define who we are and the work we focus on. The Association’s core values remain as follows:

  • Student Centered/Students First
  • Passionate
  • Persevering
  • Authentic
  • Knowledgeable

I look forward to an exciting year of leading an extraordinary group of student services professionals who dedicate their lives each day to help the 2.1 million community college students achieve their educational goals. We know that all students will reach their potential when we ensure them every opportunity to make the best of their college careers.  Understanding that our work must be done through strong integration of instructional programs and student services, we stand fully ready to collaborate our efforts to build and lead pathways for student success. We strongly support the Board of Governors and the Chancellor’s new Vision for Success, and pledge to work toward the achievement of all six goals and seven core commitments.

I hope that every student services professional who is able, will join us at the March 2018 annual conference at the Doubletree Inn held in Sacramento, California. The theme of the conference is “Leading Pathways to Success.” It is only with your help that we will be able to build pathways to success for all students who attend the 114 California Community Colleges.
I look forward to seeing you at the conference!

Cordially,
Linda Fontanilla
Vice President for Student Services
Irvine Valley College
